| Name: | Zexion (AU) |
|---|
Character: Zexion; his real name is “Ienzo”, but he’s long since abandoned it
Series/Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Original or Alternate: Alternate
Age: He appears to be 16 (I personally don’t believe nobodies age, bar Roxas and Namine), but he’s been alive for 26 years.
Gender: Male
Species: Human, formerly a Nobody
Sexuality: Heterosexual, but he’s not all that interested.
Appearance: Zexion is a fairly thin, somewhat short young man with a rather average skin tone, not necessarily pale, but showing that he doesn’t spend much time out in the sun. He has dark grey hair with long bangs that conceal half of his face, while in the back it is rather short. His eyes are a dark blue in shade, and his face as a whole seems rather young. As far as attire goes, he wears a somewhat dirty, plain brown cloak, lose fitting with a hood (much like the cloak Xehanort’s Heartless wore in KH1), as well as a pair of gloves and black boots.
Personality: First and foremost, Zexion is an intelligent, well spoken individual. He usually maintains a certain level of calm and generally avoids crude remarks, or those filled with slang. Due to his time as a Nobody, he’s lost some of the naivety he had as Ienzo, and he’s become somewhat serious, but every now and then he may be seen smirking, perhaps being amused for some reason. He’s also very cunning, and he knows very well how to manipulate people… he simply chooses not to unless necessary. Lastly, even though he’s regained his heart, he has long since abandoned his old identity out of necessity and the fact that he’s but a mere shadow of his former self.
Abilities/Strengths: Zexion is rather adept in illusionary techniques. He can make what appear to be copies of himself to confuse his enemies, mimic their fighting techniques, and even change his appearance and voice to convincingly seem like another person. While not a physical sort, he’s strong enough to last in a fight, even though he isn’t keen on dirtying his hands, so to speak. His years spent in the dark also allow him to utilize dark corridors, although doing so can be straining at times. Other than that? He has a VERY strong sense of smell and can recognize people even if they’re some distance away.
Weapons: Zexion’s one and only weapon is his lexicon, which is the source of his illusions.
Weaknesses: Despite his skill with illusions and trickery, Zexion is not, by any means, a strong individual. Although he could mimic moves of an opponent with ease, that doesn’t change the fact that he has a weak build and just doesn’t have incredibly dangerous moves. Get him in a tight spot, and it would be easy to take him down.
History: Originally Zexion was a young boy by the name of Ienzo who had a simple dream, really. What that was just so happened to be the goal of becoming an apprentice to a man by the name of Ansem the Wise. Ever since he was young, he had admired the man for his wisdom and advances in the scientific and philosophical mediums. Fortunately, those dreams became a reality when, at the ripe age of sixteen, he was accepted as an apprentice, the sixth to be precise.
He got along fairly well with the other apprentices, especially since he was among those who shared similar interests with himself. However, the apprentice by the name as Xehanort seemed suspicious to a fault. Not only was he incredibly intelligent and skilled to a point where he almost seemed to have a superhuman capacity, but his intrigue in the darkness seemed almost alarming.
Regardless, the studies on the heart proved interesting, and Ienzo even suggested building a lab to further the studies. However, as the research went on, Ansem became wary after a few negative results and decided to cancel them. This, of course, infuriated Xehanort, who attempted to persuade him, but that alone wasn't enough. ...Which is where Ienzo came into play.
Like Ansem, he too was suspicious. Very much so. Even so, Xehanort had attempted to sway him, to make him see that by abandoning the research, all the work would amount to nothing. Though hesitant, he had eventually agreed, and the research went further than ever, the apprentices themselves being test subjects.
In the end, however, the results were terrible. When the tests had begun, things started off fairly well, but the exposure to the darkness clearly began to take its toll on all six apprentices. Ienzo found himself struggling, his heart aching with an extreme pain, and soon he had blacked out…
Upon awakening, he found himself feeling cold, empty… as if something had been stripped away from him. Not only that, but his hair had faded to a grey color and was covering part of his face… though, for whatever reason, he didn’t see a point in adjusting it. Along with him were the other apprentices, each with their own different appearances. However, they too seemed cold, and distinctly different.
Apparently Xehanort had known of the consequences the whole time, but couldn’t care less. He had been that determined to discover the secrets of the heart. He and the others had plans to betray Ansem the Wise, to vanish him into a realm of nothingness, and they encouraged Ienzo to assist, but, despite his emptiness, he declined, knowing well that whatever had happened to him was the fault of his own foolishness. This, in turn, led to him being considered a traitor, destined to be ‘eliminated’, but it didn’t matter. All the same, Xehanort approached him, a strange, sword-like weapon in each of his hands, as he prepared to ‘eliminate’ him…
Only, on impulse alone, Ienzo had managed to escape through the very darkness that had stolen his heart…
The next thing he knew, he had found himself in what appeared to be a small town under an endless twilight. He was clearly no longer in Radiant Garden, not that it would matter at this point; to return would likely lead to Xehanort and the others finding him and killing him within an instant. Instead, he took a moment to survey his surroundings…
After a bit of walking and careful observation, he came across an abandoned mansion in the middle of the woods. Though cryptic in appearance, it seemed to be a place free of any residents and the perfect shelter. With that in mind, he entered the strange building, considering it a decent enough ‘home’ for a now empty shell like himself.
Over time, he came to rename himself ‘Zexion’, as continuing to use his true name would likely make his existence all the more apparent to Xehanort and anyone else who may have joined his corrupt cause by then. Over time, he came to rename himself ‘Zexion’, as continuing to use his true name would likely make his existence all the more apparent to Xehanort and anyone else who may have joined his corrupt cause by then, and he felt that he was no longer his original self.
For the next several years, he lived in Twilight Town, generally spending time on his own, in which he had discovered several things. First and foremost, as per suspicion, he had indeed lost his heart, and, with it, any and all feelings. Additionally, he could now utilize the darkness, and he eventually came to master illusionary magic as a defensive tactic. During this time he also had discovered that the basement of the mansion had been filled with various computers among other things. Seeing this, he made the basement of the mansion into a bit of a laboratory/study for himself. Though he would occasionally venture outside, those visits were few, due to him generally wanting to remain unseen.
Eventually, however, his solitude in the mansion would come to an end, when a strange man, dressed in red bandages, a young girl in a white dress, and a silver haired youth came into play.
On chance alone, they had discovered Zexion in the basement, for apparently they had the intention of using said space to store a boy by the name of Sora, so his memories could be rewritten. (Supposedly the girl, Namine, had the ability to rearrange memories). The silver haired boy, Riku, was friends with Sora and had come to assist the strange man for his own cause. Even more interesting, however, was the fact that the man in red knew of Zexion, his true name, and even Radiant Garden… in fact, the man (DiZ, he had called himself) had turned out to be nothing short of Ienzo’s old master…Ansem the Wise.
Though ‘startled’ at first, Zexion spoke to the trio, and, as it had turned out, Xehanort and the others has formed what was called “The Organization”, a group of Nobodies (empty shells like himself), which had the intention of creating a false Kingdom Hearts, supposedly to become whole. Namine had turned out to be another Nobody, though a very ‘special case’ one, and Sora the Keybearer. Most importantly, DiZ had plans that would be a sort of revenge on his former apprentices for sinking into the shadows and betraying him. Intrigued, Zexion had decided to assist. After all, he, too, had reasons to go against this Organization.
Sometime later, Riku had captured a member of the Organization, Roxas, for he was the Nobody of Sora, thus would assist in the process of memory restoration. With the help of Namine, he was given a false set of memories and thrown into a virtual world, which was constructed by DiZ and Zexion to be completely believable. However, to prevent any ‘intrusion’, were the Organization to try and find him, Zexion and Riku were left in charge of actually monitoring this simulation, Roxas in particular.
Though things were flawless at first, over the passing months they got worse. True, Roxas was stuck in the middle of a delusional life, but often times Namine would want to enter, which led to Zexion and Riku constantly reminding her that doing so would only halt the process of Sora’s restoration. Even worse was the fact that a member of the Organization, Axel, had entered the simulation through unknown means in an attempt to acquire Roxas and bring him back. During these intrusions Zexion kept his distance, due to Axel’s obvious connections, while DiZ himself usually spoke to Roxas directly.
However, a few days later, the process was complete, and Roxas had merged with Sora. This in mind, most of the others left, not wanting to be seen by the Keybearer. Knowing this was for the best, Zexion also went with his Master and the others, observing from afar for some time, perhaps taking note of some of the various Organization members and the various worlds, but remaining unseen…
After nearly all of the Organization had been extinguished, thanks to the efforts of the Keybearer and his friends, Zexion, DiZ, Namine, and Riku found themselves in the World that Never Was. During this time, Riku had been reunited with Sora, as well as the Princess of Heart, Kairi, who had been a captive in the Organization’s castle. Zexion and DiZ, meanwhile, met up with King Mickey, who greeted his old friend, though was surprised to see a Nobody actually doing something right.
Soon after, Zexion found himself face-to-face with Xehanort at long last, who had now dubbed himself, Xemnas. There he questioned his former colleague as to why he had gone to such lengths to obtain a heart, only to learn that what Xemnas had truly wanted was to harness the power of the heart to create a new world in which he was the supreme ruler. DiZ also questioned this behavior, all while using a machine to digitize the artificial Kingdom Hearts. At the same time, the group of heroes came on the scene, and DiZ’s machine began to malfunction. Though Zexion tried to assist his master as best he could, it was useless… he had well accepted that he had been foolish, not only for his vengeance, but for the way he had gotten Riku, Roxas, and even Zexion involved.
Before anything could be done, there was a blinding flash, and soon after… Ansem had disappeared.
Strangely enough, though, after that explosion, something…interesting had occurred. First and foremost, Riku, who had long since taken the form of Xehanort’s heartless, had returned to his original form. And as for Zexion… he suddenly felt what had been gone for ten whole years. At the cost of his master’s life, he had indeed regained his heart. All at once, his feelings that had long since vanished had returned swiftly and suddenly… yet, this wasn’t necessarily a pleasant feeling. True, feeling again was something he had hoped for, it was apparent that the cost was unexpected and unwanted.
Of course, there was little time to waste on such thoughts, as Xemnas was far from defeated. Seeing that his master was no more, and that he had little else to do, Zexion followed the Keybearer and his friends until they reached Xemnas, up at the highest point of the castle. Despite the severe damage Kingdom Hearts had taken, Xemnas was still oh so determined to harness its power and use it for his own means. Even worse was that he would easily fight the entire group in order to maintain supremacy…
However, before the fight could commence, Zexion found himself pulled into Econtra.
